Fundraising
To support all of the programs and capital improvements the PTA provides, the Santa Rita PTA raises and spends an average of $200,000 per year. The Spell-a-Thon and our direct donation campaign are our top tier fundraisers. Second tier fundraisers are Witches’ Delight, Hot Lunch, and Book Fair. EScrip, Box tops for Education and Office Depot are indirect fundraising sources that benefit Santa Rita throughout the year.

Direct Donation
At the beginning of each school year, we send a letter home to each Santa Rita family asking for support of our direct donation campaign. We’d like to have 100% of our families participate. We have asked each family to give $250.00 per child, or as much as you are able. We need and appreciate your support. All donations benefit our children. Donate Now.
Spell-a-Thon
A longstanding tradition at Santa Rita, it gets our kids involved in helping to raise money for their school. Santa Rita students are given grade-level spelling tests in late January. In early January, the children secure sponsors who pledge money for every word correctly spelled or for the test overall. It is an important fundraiser for the school.
Witches’ Delight Carnival and Spooky Silent Auction
Witches’ Delight is a carnival held at school the last Friday before Halloween and the whole community is invited. There are carnival booths, a cakewalk, a costume contest, cookie decorating, and lots of other opportunities for some spooky fun. Money is raised through ticket and food sales. Held during Witches Delight, the Spooky Silent Auction is a significant fundraiser for the school. The silent auction showcases many fun parties, services, and gift items – all for sale to raise money for the PTA. Parents are encouraged to donate items to the auction as well as bid to win! (add the sentences about the auction) This year we will be adding some additional activities to create even more fun!
Hot Lunch
Hot lunch is a service provided by the PTA to make available nutritious, high quality food that is seasonally appropriate at a reasonable price. Our hot lunch program is provided by a single vendor, which provides and delivers hot and cold lunches temperature safe and kid friendly.
Book Fair
Every year the Santa Rita PTA hosts a Book Fair which is open for a week and staffed by volunteer parents. It is a very popular event at Santa Rita. There is a wonderful selection of books for all ages, a wide variety of gifts and other merchandise. Our school keeps a percentage of the proceeds and all the money raised at the Book Fair is used to support the library and classroom literature books.
Los Altos Education Foundation (LAEF)
Since 1982, LAEF has bridged the ever-increasing gap between state funding and the budget needed to implement top-quality curriculum in the seven elementary and two middle schools of the Los Altos district. LAEF relies on support each year from parents and the broader Los Altos community to provide our schools with quality enrichment programs and class size reduction. See LAEF and LAEF Back-to-School flyer.
