School Organizations

School Site Council

School Site Councils were established by the State of California as a way to involve parents and teachers in important decisions regarding how their school functions. The School Site Council is the vehicle by which the school community can come together to chart a path toward continued growth and success. The Santa Rita School Site Council provides a forum for identifying common goals for school improvement and requires a plan for achieving these goals.

This year the School Site Council Members include:

Alyssa Gallagher (Principal)
Jen Finley (2nd Grade Teacher)
Robin McLaren (4th Grade Teacher)
Carrie Middleton (1st Grade Teacher)

Suzanne Thomas (PTA President, 3rd/5th Grade Parent)
Marie Borin (5th Grade Parent)
Eb Bright (6th Grade Parent)
Rob Zokaei (1st Grade Parent)

Student Council

Students in 3rd-6th grade are involved in Student Council, which meets once a month (Fridays at 7:45 a.m.) to discuss student concerns, contribute to school and playground rules, and suggest ideas for special events. Each classroom selects two classroom representatives to serve in Student Council for the first half of the year, and then chooses another two students to serve for the last half of the year. This year the Student Council Sponsors are Susie Greenwald, Kami Thordarson, and Leslie Ward.
