Letter from the Principal

Good afternoon Santa Rita families,

I am so excited that we have kicked off this year and it is such a pleasure to have met so many of you and of course our wonderful students! Mr. Ramirez and I have been in every classroom this week and it is so joyful to see all of the team building activities so our kids can connect and set the tone for what is going to be an incredible year of learning!

We have spent the last few days setting students up for success by reviewing expectations in different spaces around campus and making sure we recognize the great choices they are making. If you were at the Parent Coffee you heard me talk about the “Caught Yas” that we give to students when we see them doing great things. Let me tell you, the stack is already high and it’s only been two days!

The first week is always exhausting, but I drive home so thankful each day for the opportunity to work with and for our community. It is truly a special place!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and please check out our new Instagram page, @santaritabobcats, to see some of the great things that are already happening:)

LAEF SR Reps

LAEF

Let’s get our students off to a strong start and set them up for success this school year. Your financial support is key!

Providing an exceptional educational experience for our students requires support beyond public funding. LAEF has been helping close this gap for over 44 years by funding teachers, staff, and essential programs across the district.

Starting this year, LAEF is taking on additional responsibility by fundraising for instructional programs and materials previously supported by PTAs. As a result, LAEF’s fundraising goal and per-student ask are increasing to help ensure consistent, reliable support for these programs at every school. We are grateful for your contributions in helping us meet this increased goal.

LASD LAEF PTA
YOU are a vital part of this partnership. Your donations to LAEF help every LASD student receive an excellent, well-rounded education by funding specialized teachers and staff as well as instructional materials and programs across all nine schools. Learn more about the funded programs here.
Here’s how to partner with us:
Complete the LASD Back to School process at LASDEducationPartners.org
Step 1: Donate to LAEF
Step 2: Join and donate to the PTA for each school your children attend

Let’s get started. Your generosity can make a difference!
Parents are encouraged to give $1,800 or $180/month per student this school year. Gifts of any amount are appreciated.
If you can submit for a corporate match, we would be grateful.

Special Upcoming Events

We hope to see you there!

Back to School Night - Thursday August 20

Next Thursday Aug 20 is Back to School Night, which is an adults only event. Golden Eagle Summer Sports Camp, run by Almond parents Stefaan & Carly Lodge is offering FREE child care at Los Altos High School to allow parents to attend child-free without worrying about childcare. This is open to all Santa Rita students whose parents are attending Back to School Night; care is available from 5:30–8:00. Golden Eagle will provide two hours of engaging camp activities (ball games, arts & crafts, board games, etc.). Advance sign-up is required to ensure appropriate staffing. Sign-up will close Tuesday Aug 18 or when maximum capacity is reached.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please sign up via the linked form. https://forms.gle/8DZiEnfNZztgBrfy8 Please note all children must be school aged TK-6th grade. Golden Eagle is unable to provide care for younger siblings. We hope this gives you one less thing to plan for. Feel free to reach out to carly@goldeneaglecamp.org with questions!

Bobcat Chase

It's Almost Time for the Bobcat Chase!

Mark your calendars, Santa Rita families — one of our most treasured school traditions is back! Join us on Saturday, August 29th from 8:00–10:00am for the Bobcat Chase, a morning full of energy, school spirit, and community love.
Here's how it works: each grade level gets their moment to shine, taking a lap around the course while friends, family, and staff line up to cheer them on. There's nothing quite like the sound of the whole Santa Rita community coming together to root for our kids!
Grab a coffee and a donut, cool off with a popsicle, and soak in the excitement as we kick off the school year the way we love best — together.

This event is
completely free
and open to all Santa Rita families. Come cheer loud, wear your Bobcat pride, and help us start the year united as one pack!
See you there — let the chase begin!
